'Flesh and Stone' is a haunting, reimagining of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Set between the ancient world and the claustrophobic, twisted darkness of the underworld of Hades, the film transforms the familiar myth into an intimate story about grief, faith and the unbearable certainty of loss.
After descending into the Underworld to reclaim his dead lover, Orpheus is granted one chance to bring her home - but only if he can resist the uncertainty that she is following him.
The film's central sequence takes place inside of a narrow cave passage, where Orpheus must physically crawl towards the surface while resisting the urge to look behind him. The confined location is an important part of the storytelling, turning the physical journey out of the Underworld into a visual representation of his growing doubt.
The Film's central journey is deliberately slow and physical. Orpheus is forced through increasingly restrictive passages, scraping against the walls and crawling through mud as the light of the outside world gradually comes closer. The physical difficulty of the journey mirrors his psychological struggle.
The production relies on a combination of location, performance, cinematography and sound design to create tension, rather than depending solely on dialogue or conventional horror techniques.
Currently in the casting process, 'Faith and Stone' is expected to shoot in North Yorkshire between mid-September to early October. ERIN HATFIELD
Erin Hatfield is a 20 year old Actor born in Yorkshire. Erin started off acting as a child and the trained with the National Youth Theatre and The Oxford School of Drama, doing their foundation course.
ORPHEUS
DAMIAN ROZANEK
Damian is a Polish-born, British-raised actor and filmmaker based in Liverpool, with previous screen work including Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. Damian is currently developing his own WWII detective film, Whisper in the Valley.
HADES
STEVE WILCOX
Steve's acting debut came in 1998 when he portrayed Henry VIII in Robert Bolt's A Man for all Seasons. Since then he's been in many stage productions including portrayals of Long John Silver (Joseph Rowntree Theatre), Marley's Ghost (Bridlington Spa Theatre) and St Matthew (York Mystery Plays).
